The application for recognition of invalidity must be submitted to the Civil Invalids Office of the AUSL. In the event of incapacity to carry out daily activities such as eating, walking, etc., it is possible to request recognition of the carer’s allowance. The cancer patient can take advantage of work permits for treatment, a faculty also granted to family members who assist the cancer patient for the disabled worker: 2 hours a day or 3 days a month; for the family member: 3 days a month. If a disability of more than 50% has been recognized, the patient is entitled to 30 days a year of paid leave for medical treatment related to the state of disability.

These permits are added to the days of sickness provided for by the National Collective Labor Agreement. To obtain the permit, a simple request to the employer is sufficient. The cancer patient can also request the transformation of the employment relationship from full-time to part-time, with a proportional reduction in salary, retaining the right to a job and to return to full hours and salary when they feel able to work new for the whole day. The Municipality of residence recognizes the cancer patient undergoing therapy the right to obtain the permit for free movement and parking. The application for the release of the mark must be submitted to the Municipality of residence.
