Melanoma resources: a guided library

Clinical sources, patient tools and historical materials, organised by purpose.

Different resources for different questions

This library helps readers decide where to learn more, rather than choose treatment from a list of links. Start with patient information to understand diagnosis and care, consult guidelines to examine a recommendation, and use patient support resources for practical assistance. A specialist textbook, personal account and press release have different purposes and evidential value.

The Guidelines section links to producing organisations and distinguishes current sources from historical documents. Useful links are grouped around information, rights, research and education. Books and history preserve the site’s bibliographic heritage while explaining that publications predating modern immunotherapy may not describe today’s treatment options.

Videos, apps and downloads have specific criteria: identifiable authorship, date, clinical limitations, availability and data protection. Unavailable historical links are not presented as working tools. Conferences and courses point to organisers’ calendars so that a 2015 event cannot be mistaken for an upcoming appointment.

How to assess a source

Check who publishes the information, when it was updated, its intended audience and the references supporting it. A recent page date does not guarantee that an attached PDF is recent. Foreign guidance can be scientifically relevant without matching Italian authorisation, reimbursement or care pathways; consult EMA and AIFA for medicines.

For research news, distinguish preclinical experiments, early trials, comparative studies and changes to clinical practice. Trial registration, conference presentation and medicine approval are different milestones. A working link establishes accessibility, not the accuracy of every statement on the external site.

Editorial review is dated 17 October 2026. Sources can change; errors or broken links can be reported through the site’s contact page. Do not send identifiable reports or photographs to unverified services. Online research should not delay contacting a clinician about a new medical problem.
