Skin phototypes

Type I: always burns and never tans. High chance of developing skin cancers, high risk for melanoma. Recommend the use of sunscreens (SPF 50 +)

Type II: often burns and scarcely tans little, high chance of developing skin cancer and melanoma, recommended the use of sunscreens (SPF 50 +)

Type III: sometimes burns and gradually tans. Moderate risk of developing skin cancer or melanoma. recommended the use of sunscreens (SPF 30 +)

Type IV: minimally burns and easily tans, limited risk of developing melanomas and epitheliomas, recommended the use of sunscreens (SPF: 20)

Type V: rarely burns and tans easily to dark. Modest risk of developing melanomas and epitheliomas, but acral lentiginous melanoma is common among people with darker skin. Recommended the use of sunscreens (SPF 10)

Type VI: never burns and deeply pigmented. However, we recommend the use of sunscreens (SPF 10)
